Biogas generation

-Biogas is a natural gas produced by animal waste or even decomposing kitchen waste.

-Biogas generation and use is fast gaining popularity with more companies offering the services at an affordable price.

 

-Biogas production has greatly assisted in environment management programs since waste is utilized well with the bi-product used as compost manure.

To generate biogas,one requires:
(i) biogas digester- this is a tank divided into chambers where the digestionn is carried out.
(i) animal waste - adequate animal waste is required. Most common being cowdung, however, other animal wastes also, such as rabbit waste, chicken and even goat waste can be used.

procedure for generating biogas;
-place waste in the mixing chamber,
- add water at an appropriate ratio into the chamber,
-mix the components thoroughly
-allow it to flow into the digester and close,

-The waste decomposes producing a gas, biogas, which is mainly used for cooking and in some cases harnessed to produce electricity.
